L.A.B. holds a bachelor’s degree in Applied Physics from Mekelle University and completed one year of master’s studies at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), specializing in Condensed Matter Physics. Expanding his skills after relocating to the United States, he pursued specialized training in Data Engineering, Database Development, and Business Intelligence, equipping him with advanced expertise in the IT field.
In recent years, L.A.B. has been instrumental in delivering complex IT solutions, focusing on system migrations, data integration, and scalable analytics platforms:
US Bank Merger Team: Contributed to the successful merger of US Bank and Union Bank by supporting data integration efforts, optimizing ETL pipelines, and troubleshooting critical data challenges to ensure seamless system consolidation and business continuity.
EMMA Project: Played a key role in migrating legacy systems from IBM DataStage to DBT (Data Build Tool). Responsibilities included modernizing ETL processes, conducting comprehensive testing for data consistency, and resolving DBT code issues to enable a smooth transition for end-users.
Small Business Insurance (SBI) Platform at USAA: Spearheaded data integration efforts for the SBI platform, enhancing underwriting and claims processing through the design of scalable ETL workflows. Successfully unified diverse data sources, providing actionable insights and improving operational efficiency.
In addition to his technical expertise, L.A.B. has over the years of experience in teaching and project management, including his tenure as a Lecturer at Arba Minch University in Ethiopia.
As the Co-CEO and IT Director of Tecqnova, L.A.B. oversees the company’s operations, including client engagements, departmental leadership, and hands-on technical guidance. His commitment to innovation and efficiency drives Tecqnova’s mission to deliver transformative IT solutions tailored to client needs.
Beyond his professional life, L.A.B. is an advocate for social equity, renewable energy, and climate action, striving to contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive global future.
